Recently my friend has been speaking to me about the second coming of Christ.
As told to her by her friends and church, this year is the year in which the treaty would be signed and the seven years of tribulation would begin. How true or reliable this fact is, I do not know. However it has struck a chord in me in the sense that there is an urgency, that Christ is coming!

Complacency I believe has infiltrated my life. To feel so safe, just resting and being surrounded with God's love and God's people. Somehow I've forgotten about Christ's second coming though its somewhere floating around in my mind.

Having read Matthew 24 during quiet time, rang a bell again. Matthew 24:6-8 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.

Indeed all these have already happened, are happening. What if Christ would come tomorrow or next week? Or next month? I thought to myself that there would be so much things left undone.
My family's salvation, My friend's salvation etc.

Therefore 1 Thessalonians 4:13 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.

As the saying goes, Ignorance is bliss, but indeed the verse states otherwise. But instead there is a compelling urge to be vigilant and also to encourage and support each other, brothers and sisters.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Matthew 24: 42, 44. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come...So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Are you ready? I know I'm not, not yet at least. But I'm starting. The time is coming and there is a greater need to be vigilant, to encourage and support one another meanwhile! (:

love,
elizabeth
