I recently read this interesting article on the different pathways we each have that bring us to a place where we feel particularly close to God. When we are able to identify our own pathway, we can revitalize our walk with God.

Relational pathway
These relational people find it hard to grow in their walk with Christ when they try to do it alone, because they feel isolated and suffocated alone. But when they pray, study the Word and worship with others, God’s presence becomes stronger and everything is more meaningful.

Intellectual pathway
These people grow in their walk with Christ when their minds are completely engaged and stimulated with the truth. They need to study books and theological stuff, if not they will probably dry up spiritually. When they love God with all their mind, they grow closer to Him.

Serving pathway

These people feel most alive and closest to God when they’re constantly serving Him and His people. When they actively do things for Him, they get a greater awareness of His presence and become more joyful.

Contemplative pathway
These people often stay away from busyness because they are easily tired out by relationships and activities. They feel closest to God when they are in solitude with Him. They can spend days just being alone with God, because that’s when they feel His presence. Often idealistic, they help others see what kingdom life is supposed to be like.

Activist pathway
These people are at their best when they’re running from place to place, serving in more areas than they can handle. They feel closest to God when they have given Him every last bit of their emotional, physical and spiritual effort.

Creation pathway
These people grow in their walk best when they’re around nature, as they come alive when they’re surrounded by God’s beauty of creation. They prefer doing devotions close to nature, as they find spiritual meaning from nature.

Worship pathway
These people grow close to God especially when they are worshipping Him. They feel most fully alive when they are singing praises to Him, because they are then able to sense His presence in their lives.

All these aren’t the only pathways. There are others. But these are just some of them. Identify your pathway. Try it. Appreciate other pathways too. They all offer opportunity for spiritual growth.
