Okay, fasting has begun since last last week, I think, or whatever day it is. We will think, what are we fasting for? And then the answer came, we fast for the 20 or more people we are going to bless. But is our heart set on doing it for the sake of the 20 people? Or are you going to do it just because it is what we are supposed to do, and just to follow the rest of the church.

The first week of fasting wasn’t so great for me. In fact, it made me to think about all the things I’m doing. Often, we fast a meal. We would pray “God, please not let me get tempted when I see people eating.” Even though we pray this, there’s always this thing in us that says, “Just eat la, who cares. No one would even see.” But we often forget that God is watching, 24/7. And then the devil comes by and infiltrate our thoughts. Then, we have the temptation to break fast. Honestly speaking, I broke fast, 3 days in a row. What’s worst, I didn’t even read the fasting booklet. And as I was reflecting on what I was doing, I was thinking, have I taken God for granted? Do I just attend service and cell as and when I like, am I a Christian or a Christ – follower? Do I just be holy on Sundays, and not on weekdays? What’s wrong with me? I felt that I’ve drifted away from God. Now, have you drifted away from Him? Have you been through this? And, have you taken God for granted?

This one’s gonna a bit no link ah, but it just came to my mind just now.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

This verse, my spiritual lao pa told me when I discussed something with him. “Kingdom” refers to what God wants us to do now, for example, studies, bless people, honor our parents, worship Him till the very end, so on and so forth. “Righteousness” refers to godly values. So yes, are we seeking His kingdom and His righteousness? Or are we seeking for something else?
