To all my brothers and sisters out there, if there’s someone you have been reaching out to, I hope this can be an encouragement to you!

Recently, Vimel, Shenglong and I have the joy of leading someone very dear to us to Christ. I’m sure Vimel and Shenglong (currently now botak in tekong) are encouraged by this brother of ours.

Oh, by the way, I’ve gotten special permission from him to share this. Haha ;)

So Vimel and I have been praying for his conversion for a period of time. To be very honest, it is really by God’s grace that he came to know Christ, because I haven’t been very faithful in prayer. Sometimes I pray for a few minutes for him. Sometimes I pray only one sentence. Sometimes I just don’t pray at all!

I often meet this brother for dinner and we’ll chat about just anything. Through it, I got to know that he has been emotionally hurt by some people which I wouldn’t mention here. On top of that, I guess his family didn’t really care for him either. His parents are working most of the time. His sister is always busy with her boyfriend. Being not exactly the outgoing kind, he didn’t know many friends. The only Christians he knew; Vimel and myself.

Knowing that we are the ONLY Christians he knew, we couldn’t just leave him alone knowing he needed help obviously. Perhaps not the best strategy, I started telling him about Christ and how He can help him and how much Christ loves him. By God’s wonderful grace, I realized that he could think quite soundly and clearly.

How often do we hear the following sentences;
“All the religion same wad….”
“There is God meh? Dun bluff lah..”
“Hello, Jesus is a fairy tale.”

But he could see that there is only one true God and that made sense to him. We invited him to church several times but he rejected.

So we still meet up for dinner and talked. Sometimes I think I get too impatient because I keep telling him about God. So in the end, having dinner with me almost ended up like listening to sermons. Now thinking back, I think God granted me a lot of favour. My “sermons” didn’t scare my brother away. For a while, I couldn’t see much hope, I even felt like giving up sometimes. But our amazing God is so unpredictable.

One day….he smsed me, “haohao (my Chinese name is Yang Jian Hao) I want to go church this Sunday.”

Jaws dropped. Eyes widen. Heart beating fast. Hallelujah! For those of us who know him, he hardly ever leaves Choa Chu Kang. He doesn’t want to leave. Now he wants to come to Expo? In my heart, I was really excited.

That very same night, Vimel, SL and I met up with him.

Apparently, he was trying to attempt suicide that afternoon. He sat on the ledge. Somehow, he picked up his Bible and read. I don’t know which passage he read. But one thing for sure, that particular passage spoke and ministered to his heart! God with his love convinced him to come off the ledge!

Vimel, SL and I talked to him. He realized how much God values and loves him. If I remember correctly, it was the first time or second time I saw him crying. He invited Christ that very night! What a day! What a testimony! What an amazing God!

For those of us reading this right now, could we just spend the next few minutes to pray a blessing for my brother?
