i've just watched an episode from the OC (had to fulfill my urge now that Heroes is taking a break), and i caught smth that really spoke almost immediately. i'm always amazed when God chooses to speak to us even through our daily things, things that may not be related to Him directly (eg: exams, books and tv)..

anyway, Ryan (the male lead actor) was facing some problems with Taylor (new gf)... he was doubting their relationship because he felt that both of them were very different. he spoke to Sandy (his foster dad) and asked how Sandy and Kirsten (his foster mum) manages to keep their marriage tgther after so many yrs, and despite how different Sandy and Kirsten are, they manage to work it out..

"it took me years to figure it out, even now i'm still learning. but what matters is do you focus on what separates you? or do you focus on what keeps you two together?" -sandy

well, it's smth liddat..have you ever wondered how different God and man are? yes, God did man into His image, but think about it. God is 100% holy, yet we are 100% sinful in nature. God, in his lifetime on Earth, was able to resist all temptation, yet we struggle everythin and even fall to sin. God is able to love unconditional, yet we struggle to even love and care for our loved ones. God can make miracles happen in a second, we cant even bring ourselves to do our hmwk. God lives in Heaven, we live on Earth.

funny it may seem, but frankly speaking, i think God and us are totally worlds apart.

but God chose to break that barrier, he exchanged it with Love. Love, so powerful, that it had to come from God Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. when you had your Pre-Encounter, i believed that there's one part that says... the presence of sin causes us Eternal separation from God.

alot of times when we do sin, we think that we're unworthy. we're not fit to be a part of God's plan. we're not fit to be His chosen pple. we're not fit to even call ourselves Christians. we think we shud just throw in the towel and call it a day. we think we shud just leave. sin is a daily affair, and let's not be proud of this. but the truth is, "do you focus on what separates you? or on what keeps you tgther?"

well, here's a song that hasnt been played at svc for quite some time.

"at the cross i bow my knee
where your blood was shed for me
there's no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
WHAT CAN SEPARATE ME NOW?"

"no wonder what you have done, no matter how much you did, my love for you still remains the same. i love you, my dear child. your name has been written on my palm, and i will hold you forever in my hands. i love the way that you're different from me. the world has so many different pple, but that's why it's so beautiful. you are beautiful in my eyes." -god

just like what Sandy says, "i'm still learning". even if we have to fight sin every single day of our lives till we finally go to Heaven and meet Him, let's just fight. bcos we're focusing on one thing, His Love. we're focusing on God. we're learning to Look Up..
