Annoyance vs Abundance

Lately, I have been in contact with a great deal of annoying people. Manning the helpline at my workplace, I get calls from all kinds of people who range from the not so annoying to the INTOLERABLY annoying. Like people who call and make you do ridiculous stuff for them, and people who call and bug you with their nonsense for like 1hr plus. Of course, when I get annoyed, I get nasty(Like being overly sweet, my remarks dripping with sarcasm or like just putting them on hold and blasting them out loud.). And being nasty makes me feel super bad, more so because I am a Christian and Christians are always being spied on by non-believers(if you get what i mean).

So I tried reading the bible before I start work and I do feel very at peace and confident. But when I start picking up the phone it’s a different matter, I just lose it!(if you see my office histrionics you will probably pretend you do not know me). So I felt really lousy for a short spiel, until one day I saw this verse.

“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in things, have an abundance for any good work.” 2 Cor 9:7-8

It made me realize that all these while I had been giving out of necessity. My contribution was meaningless and stemmed from no true purpose. I was giving UNWILLINGLY. I was trying to be nice because that was what is expected of Christians. I do admit that I am still struggling to put this cheerful giving into practice but I know that God is with me and I know that he loves the people calling the helpline so he will bless me with the humility to deal with their demands(God wouldn’t want me to mentally chew off the ears of the callers since he loves them) so I will not GIVE UP because I know I will definitely reap what I have sown! So if there is anyone out there struggling like me, HOLD ON OKAY????

Love love love,
Krystle
