All my devotions so far has been talking about how God has blessed me in that particular month. Today, i will like to testify the goodness of our lord in one particular area, and that is tithing.. Tithing, as we all know, means setting aside 10% of our personal income as an offering to God.. In Malachi 3: 8-12, it talks about robbing God when we do not tithe and it also states that we can test God in this area of tithing.. It is something that perhaps some or many of us may struggle with. I remembered about a few years back, one of my dad's friend who is a pastor preached on the message of tithing..

That was the very first time when i reaslised that we could actually test god when we tithe. As a new believer then, i was amazed and wondered whether my parents tithed as their business prospects were rather bleak then. If they really did tithe, probably their financial wouldn't be so tight. I also knew that it was not by coincidence that the pastor preached this message and that i thought this message was more appropriate for my parents.. Back then i tithe, but it was only when I felt like it and even when i tithe, i wasn't sure if it was 10%. "What can the church do with $1.50" i thought as my weekly allowance then was about $15..Therefore, the importance of tithing was understated. It was until.. Erm.. I can't quite remember when but it was the moment when i decided to stop shortchanging God.. I had nothing to lose anyway as i still had 90%left.. i tithe, tithe and tithe week after week. Even though the attitude of my heart wasn't quite correct, i.e. to give out of love, I still felt the peace and joy in me when i give.

Slowly, my attitude began to change and i tithe willingly out of love for God..(Something like the story that Daniel Khong mentioned during the G12 conference). I did not expect anything from the lord unlike in the past.. However, our God was SOOO GOOD! My parents business starting pickingu p.. Now on top of my daily allowances, my dad still gives me bonuses when he closes a deal.. I think the point i m trying to say here is that we should tithe not only because we want to test God but it's also because of what God has done for us and blessed us with and this 10% which is rightfully his in the 1st place is what we should give out of love for him and for his furtherance of his kingdom.. When i tithe, my parents were blessed and so was I..
