When satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future!

There was this day when I was browsing through the t-shirts at newurbanmale when I came across this tee with the slogan “when satan reminds you of your past remind him of his future.” Despite the outrageous colour combination, the phrase stuck in my head.

Then, during encounter, I was confronted with the need to surrender my past to the Lord, to not just ask for the forgiveness of my sins but to also learn to forgive myself. It then came to me that I had not forgiven myself for what I did before even coming back to the Lord, that my past was weighing down my present and hindering my future. Thus I made the decision to let it all go and to unload my cares at the foot of the cross.

On Monday, when I looked through my daily bread, the Lord spoke to me through this verse, ‘They trusted in You and were not ashamed. Psalms 22:5’ and indeed it is not God’s plan for his children to leave in perpetual guilt. He is ever willing to forgive and cleanse if we come to him and pour out our hearts in total honesty because ‘a broken and contrite heart’ he will not despise.

I cannot say that I am 100% healed right now but I have faith that one day I will be. So this goes out to all of you kids out there feeling bogged down by your past - you are a new creation with a beautiful future, don’t let satan get you down! Move out and move into the destiny God has determined for you (: Love!

Krystle
