Letting Go and Surrendering

To me, the biggest disclaimer that our Lord Jesus has made was this:

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. – Matt 16:24

So here we are again, talking bout surrendering our lives to the Lord because he died for us?

“I cannot give up on my results and accolades”

“Sometimes it’s okay to lead my own life; I will come to him when I am in need”

“Surrendering, what do you mean? Walk by faith? What’s that again? I’ll be ‘dead’ if I do that!”

I guess the above are just some of the thoughts that run through our mind if our leader or pastor preaches bout surrendering. However, allow me to present the following points:

Jesus takes NOT only the “good” things from us

I think the often misconception and thinking is that many believers will think, “God! Why you want me to give up my good things in life, things that I am enjoying now?” However we tend to forget that these things which we think are good for us may not be what is truly good for us.the Lord also wants to take away our BAD things like pain, fears, and insecurities. – All these things which he bore at Calvary.

We are TRULY desperate

A baby allows his father to hold him so that he can learn how to walk. Same thing here, God wants to hold and guide us. He wants to mould us. How can the baby walk without the help of his parents? We need the Lord to help us in our journey of faith because our strength and wisdom is only 1/infinity of God’s. That must however, come with willingness on our part so that he can even do his work in our lives.

The Lord simply LOVES

You can lead your own life. You can go out and party all night. You can engage in premarital sex. Well, all these things you are free to do it because God has given us choice. God wants to have a relationship with us because he loves and know us. Would you like to have a relationship with a stranger that jus passed by you at Orchard Road? Therefore the lord is inviting us back again but that cannot be done if your heart is closed towards him.

Dear Lord Jesus, I pray a simple prayer that you will even teach me how to let go of things that I shouldn’t be and how to surrender my life to you O Lord. Teach me how to me more like you each day of my life. Not mine but your will be done. Amen.
