Genesis 1

Genesis 1 is a very simple chapter. It talks about God creating everything on Earth and its really EVERYTHING! How awesome is that?

Imagine with me:There was nothing. Heaven and Earth appeared. Darkness lurked around Earth and God created light. With Earth being so empty, He created the waters... read Genesis 1 to find out what God created.

But get my point here, from NOTHING, He created EVERYTHING! If that is not awesome, what is it? As i read, the only thought in my mind was... WHAT AN AWESOME GOD I HAVE! WHAT A GREAT GOD I HAVE! When i read on to V27, it literally blew my mind. V27 God created Man in His own image... Read it again, God created Man in His... ...OWN image. OWN?! As i referred back to the first 25 verses, God did not create anything in His image. Just a few seconds ago, i was thinking, wow! God you are so awesome, you are so great! and now the bible tells me, i am created in God's image. In a very literal sense, it means, liangming, you are great! you are awesome just like how God is!

I took a step back. I could not continue reading. If Scriptures say that man is the only being in creation who bears the "image" of God, then how much of God's image is reflected in me? I told God, God I do not want to just say, God you are awesome, God you are great.. there is nothing wrong in that.. but if my life is not representing God in the right image, what is the point?

What is your life representing today?

Look into the Mirror
As you look in the mirror,
Who do you see?
Do you see the person
you really want to be?
Do you see imperfections?
Do you stare and wonder?
Do you run and hide
because of your blunder?

Take time and step back
To ponder the matters of the soul.
Find the time to self-examine
Before life without God takes its' toll.

There is a life beyond ourselves we know
We are not the end-all and be-all
When we call out to the Lord in prayer
We need be aware that He does SEE all.

Not a prayer we pray is unheard,
Not a moan, cry or thought absurd.
The Lord, God, is our staff and shield.
With our Baptism we are sealed,
And by His stripes we are healed.

Do we mirror Jesus?
Are we pleased with what we see?
Do we see the person Jesus wants us to be?
Do we mirror Jesus?
In thought, in word, in deed?

When others watch and see us
Can we fill their need?
As you look in the mirror
Who do you see?
Do you see the person You really want to be?

Father, we humble ourselves before you this day. We are not worthy to be created in Your Image if we do not try to live up to Your Image daily. Lord, forgive us for not upkeeping Your Image in our lives. Father, we pray that with our effort to glorify you daily and yours, we will be moulded to become more and more like Jesus each day so that Your Image can be represented in me.. In Jesus Names i pray and ask, Amen!
