And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." - 2 Cor 12:9

A dear friend blessed me with this verse last night. It came after a day of feeling very helpless and lousy about myself. Have been having a few cases where i dun know how to start helping the students. Yesterday was the big one, hinting at abuse by the mother and how the father is not doing anything about it and wants to cover up.

At the end of the session as i sat down to do the notes from the session, when i came to the part of "Intervention Plan", i got stuck. Coz other then writing about info i gathered, i did not know how to continue with her. Coz the problem seems so so big. I asked God:" So what can I do? I dun know what to do." I was feeling very helpless and true to what my trainers taught us, the pain of feeling helpless to help our counsellees' issues can sometimes be very great and coupled with accusations of "What kind of a counsellor are you? Dun even know what to do!", its a big reason why counsellors burn out.

At the altar last night God came and met me. He just said:"Come." It wasn't an emotional time nor was it a time that he touched me in a powerful way. It was a warm, gentle and sweet encounter with God as His presence surrounded me. And all my anxieties and self doubt just melted away and He gave me rest from what i had been fighting the whole day. His grace is sufficient for me.

I am sure that all of us have had such times when we feel so over our heads with school or work. That we just feel so lousy abt ourselves. This might be a well known fact that his power is perfected in our weaknesses... BUT DO YOU BELIEVE IT? Is it just head knowledge or is it a heart conversion?

Not sure what is going to happen from here. BUT i am going to trust in the Lord tat as i come to the end of myself, thats when His power will be perfected in me. WILL YOU?

Lionel
