A Privilege

How was your spending time with God today? Does it feel like you're spending time with God out of a sense of religious duty? Or did you choose to spend time so that you might get Him notice you more? What is your underlying motive for spending time with God, if we do, at all?

I, for one, haven't been faithful in reading the bible and spending time with God everyday. Some days, when nothing seems to go right, I'll take that extra effort to spend time with God, as if to say i want His attention to make my day right. Other days, i do it whenever i want, like how I'd pick up a novel to read.

These days, I'm blessed with waking up each day with nothing to look forward to. Some of you have sch, others, work. I have neither. And naturally I've got plenty of time to spend with God. And i realised that what I'm doing is actually a privilege. That not everyone else on earth can get to do: developing my friendship with God through Jesus.

God has invited us to draw near to Him, but do we actually appreciate that? I'm beginning to. With each waking day, when I'm supposed to be worried about not having a job, I'm still thankful. I'm thankful for the time i have to just spend time with God. I'm thankful for this privilege that's given to us, by the grace of His blood.
