Oh, for the days when I was in my prime, when God's intimate friendship blessed my house, - Job 29:4

As I was heading home from school on the MRT, a young girl caught my attention. For your info, she’s just a primary school kid so for those who think that I am looking at her because she’s pretty or whatever… I’m not!! And for reference purposes, let’s call the girl, “Yan”.

Ok back to the topic and before I can share, I need to tell you how we sat:

… Yan’s Mother Empty Big Sized Uncle Me Stranger A …

Note that there was an empty seat for Yan to sit right beside her mother and even the uncle had prompted her to seat down. She just shook her head and remained standing. At that moment, everyone in the train (I assume) must have thought that she did not want to seat beside the uncle as she was scared.

But!

To everyone’s surprise, even when her mum shifted one space to the right, she did not want to sit down too.

Guess what?

What she wanted to was to sit on her mum’s lap and be in her embrace.

It really spoke to me how much this little girl craves for intimacy with her mum. Sitting right beside her mum does not satisfy her, what she wants is absolute closeness and warmth.

It showed me that as we grow older and wiser in our own ways, we tend to lead our own life and maybe even sitting beside God may be a hindrance to us. But look at this girl, she is able to do that despite so many eyes watching her. Most of the time, we tend to “disown” God because it makes us look bad or having to endure sarcastic remarks like, “wah you so holy” by our friends and peers.

Not only that, I guess the thirst for God is one of the key factor for us to have a good and deep personal relationship with Him. He has already invited us, are you moving in faith to grow closer with Him?

Grow in intimacy with the Lord and he will bless your house!

Amen!
