Being in peace with your situation

'A godly life brings huge profits to people who are content with what they have. ' - 1 Timothy 6:6 - God's Word translation

As i am sitting here posting from office, I am very happy and comfortable. At the same time I know that a lot of my counterparts in other schools are grumbling about their office and are unhappy with the way things are in school. Given that each school has different situations, but as i hear some of them, in my heart i am sure that it is not entirely that bad. It boils down to being contented with what you have and not compare with others about what u do not have.

So how can you be contented when things are not so good?

'Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. ' - Phillipians 4:6-8

We normally use this verse to address our worries. That we all just need to pray and tell God what you need. That by surrendering it to God then we will be 'freed' from that worry and have peace. But that's not all. We have to thank Him for all He has done. Surrendering it alone is not enough but we have to give thanks for all that has already been done by God.

In other words, we need to be thankful of the situations that we are in. Only then will we have the contentment. The 'peace' mentioned in the verse is not restricted to just not worrying, it also includes not wanting more, not demanding more but being balanced and happy.

Are you unhappy with certain things in your current life situation? Submit your requests to Him, giving thanks for what you already have and the contentment will give you peace.
