Is God getting the worship He deserves?

My dad passed me a book titled "Heavenly Humour" and it's been quite a read. Here's one short snippet I took from the book.

Note the contrasts between the average football fan's worship of football and the average Christian's worship of God:

(Heavenly Humour Volume One, George Ong)

This comparison of a football fan's worship and a Christian's worship of God spoke a lot to me. During World Cup this year, I've witnessed lots of people who totally immerse themselves into the football fever. They watch football, talk football and probably even dream football. When you take a look at the television screens, the crowd of people cheering on their favourite teams can be quite intimidating. They're enthusiastic, loud and passionate about the sport. About football.

It brought up the question.

Are we as passionate about God?

It's not just about football 'worship'. It can also be idol 'worship'. (Idol meaning, singers, actors, musicians, models, so on) As some would know I can be quite fervent about my favourite music groups. (Not to the extreme extents, of course.) I'm sure this is the case for most teenagers nowadays. Most do not think twice about making time for their favourite idols' concerts, signing sessions. They cheer their lungs out at concerts and don't complain when made to stand and wait for hours for a concert to start.

However, it may be a different case for them when it comes to church and worshipping God.

Will I cheer like I'm gonna lose my voice any moment, for God?
Will I give Jesus the worship he deserves?
Will I run after Jesus no matter what it takes?

For me, if I can cheer loudly, if I can be crazy about my favourite groups, then all the more I can be even crazier about God.

Afterall…
Jesus, you're my Superhero. You're my Star. My best friend.

He's the ultimate Star!
