Amazing Love

Today has been a great day for me. I had encountered God in so many ways that it really left me in awe by the end of the day. It all started with a new insight to this one verse-

John 3:16: 'For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish by have eternal life.'

Doesn't that verse sound familiar to many of us Christians? It's considered as the verse we usually use to share the gospel. Well, honestly speaking, in commercial terms, it does sound overused, I didn't thought much of it until I continued reading-

John 3:17-18: 'For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned alrady because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only son.'

Wow! The fact that God forsake His only son to reunite with us truly shows how much He esteems us to be, even higher than Himself. I thought that it is truly amazing, to know that God, who is supposedly the Lord Almighty seeing us as on par to Him and choosing to love us regardless. To explain the last verse clearly, just to clarify matters, God paid the ransom of His son, Jesus Christ to save us, for we are already in a world full of sin and hence is condemned by not believing in Christ who is our Saviour. An enigma? Yes, but it really takes lots of processing to truly understanding the depth of His sacrifice.

Second revelation of the day would be a fresh perspective to my salvation. Initially, I would probably say that my decision to accept Christ was a response to God's calling. However, upon introspection, it was also an understanding to God's forgiveness. When tremendous hurt and pain was inflicted to me three years back, the Holy Spirit in me was awakened and the words that He said to comfort me was later reaffirmed by a confidant of mine. At that point in time, even before officially accepting Christ as Lord and saviour, I found the freedom in forgiving.

Now that I have accepted Him as Saviour and learnt of His compassion, I finally can comprehend the significance of His mercy and forgiveness- to free me from the bondage of the devil and to walk in righteousness. Logically, as the someone of such high authority shouldn't need to forgive anyone of their wrongdoings, if they are your boss, just fire you or as your teacher or senior, give you a good reprimand. But God chose to forgive, not to scold, not to mock, but to accept and love us for who we are.

His forgiveness has also revealed to me His merciful nature. A girl from my cell came back to church after a very long time. And when I had to pray for her, the prompting from the spirit was not one of condemnation or disdain or mockery, but of rejoice. God is truly happy with her return and was welcoming her with arms wide open. Again, it reminded me of John 3:17- Jesus was not sent to condemn the world but to save it.

Today, the reality of God's truth and natre has begun to hit me like never before. I will truly want ot say for a thousand and one times that I want to draw near to this God Almighty and know Him for who He is, His greatness, mercy and love and just to be a pleasure to Him.

Father in Heaven, You are simply Amazing!
