NO MORE

"But those people who keep their faith until the end will be saved. the Good News about God's kingdom will be preached in all the world, to every nation. Then the end will come" Matt 24: 13-14

i was reading Max Lucado's And the Angels were Silent and on this chapter that i've read before... the Lord asked me to look thrh it again. u would realise that the verse above seems smth that Pastor Melvin talked abt. i was shocked too, but still decided to read it thrh and figure out why God requested that i refer back to this story once more..

first of all, this story requires u to know abit of Matt 24 (suggestion: go read it)
this chapter is called, "Surviving Life".. here we go

'Some years ago, we took a family vacation to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Denalyn and I decided to be adventuruous and ride the rapids of the Rio Grande. We drove to the designated spot and there met the guide and the other courageous tourists.

His instructions were foreboding.
"When you fall in the water...
And when you find urself floatin in the river..
And when the boat flips over..."

i was getting nervous. I elbowed Denalyn and whispered, 'Notice he didnt say 'if' ?'

nor did Jesus. Jesus didnt say, "In this world ou may have trouble" or, "in this world there are some who have trouble." no, he assured us, "in this world you will have trouble." if you have a pulse, you will have pain. if you are a person, you will have problems"

Charles Hall blows up bombs for a living. He is a part of the EOD -- Explosive Ordinance Demolition. He is paid $1500 a week to walk the sands of postwar Kuwait searchin for live mines or discarded grenades.

You, me and these EODs have alot in common: treacherous trails thrh explosive territories. Problems that lay partly obscured by the sand. A constant threat of losing a life or a limb.
and most significant, we, like the demolition team, are called walk thrh a minefield that we didnt create. Such is the case with many of life's struggles. we didnt create them, but we have to live with them.

we, like the EODs, are tiptoeing thrh a minefield that we didnt create.

if you live on a shooting range, chances are u are gonna catch a bullet.
if you live on a battlefield, a cannonball will likely land in ur yard.
if you walk thrh a dark room, you may stub ur toe
if you walk thrh a minefield, u may lose ur life..
and if u live in a world darkened by sin, you may be its victim.

Jesus is honest abt the life we are called to lead. there is no guarantee that just because we belong to Him, we will go unscathed. No promise is found in Scripture, that says when u follow the king, u are exempt from battle. NO, often jus the opposite is the case...

how do we survive the minefields then? how do we endure?

Jesus gives us 3 certainities.. knowing the jungle that we were abt to enter, He gave us 3 compasses that, if used, will keep us on the right trail

1) Assurance of Victory
"those pple who keep their faith until the end will be saved."

He doesnt say if you succeed, you will be saved. or if u come out on top you will be saved. He says IF U ENDURE.

2) Assurance of Accomplishment
"the good new abt God's kingdom will be preached in all the world, to every nation."

3) Assurance of Completion
"then the end will come"

read Thessalonians 4:16, "The Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command"
ever wondered what that command is" it will be the inaugural word of heaven. it will be the first audible message most have heard from God. it will be the word that closes one age and opens a new one.

i think i know what it is. i could very well be wrong, but i think the command that puts an end to the pains of the earth and initiates the joys of heaven will be in 2 words:
NO MORE

the King of Kings will raise his pierced hands and proclaim these 2words.
angels will stand and the Father will speak, "No more"
every person who lives and who ever lived will turn towards the sky and hear God announce, "No more."

no more loneliness
no more tears
no more death
no more sadness
no more crying
no more pain

for those who live for this world, that's bad news. but for those who live for the world to come, it's an encouraging promise.
You're in a minefield, my friend, and it's only a matter of time: 'for in this world, you will have trouble'
next time u are tossed into a river as u ride the rapids of life, remember His words of assurance

Those who endure will be saved
The gospel will be preached
The end will come

u can count on it.
