Mighty to Save

Everyone needs compassion, a love that's never failing, let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness, a kindness of a saviour, a hope of nations
So take me as you find me, all my fears and failures, fill my life again

During the course of this week, while I was listening to this song on my MP3, I was asking God to reveal to me the meaning of this song, and He did today during service.

Indeed, the opening lyrics of the song that we sung today would sum up most people's feelings about life. Life can be rotten at times, with ups and downs, but one thing that would make our day, is a friend, someone who can understand without judging us, would love us, for who we are, and not what we can do for him.

Sometimes, we do things that we feel bad about, yet we are unable to tell others for fear of persecution, and this 'guilt' will not go away until we know that we have been forgiven. I thank God for sending Jesus to die for our sins. Not only has He reunited us to Him by the blood of the lamb, we too, have been forgiven for the wrongs that we have done in our lives, without a price! By His grace, He forgave us and sacrificed Jesus without any expectations or returns and became our hope for better living.

God is willing to accept us for who we are, because He wants to draw near to us, (James 4:8) as we draw near to Him. To Him, it is not how prosperous we are or how big our ministry is, but the most fundamental point is how intimate we are to Him. After all, He is mighty to save and can do all even without us, it is all by His strength, His might and His spirit.

I am revealed and am awed by God's love, His desire of wanting to be someone who wants to have an intimate relationship with me, taking me for all that I am, regardless of my weakness and strength. Someone who is loving and compassionate, who will never fail to be there to support me through all the times.

For all that, I, too, make the decision to surrender my all, and take that step forward to draw close to Him, for who He is, the good and the bad, not for His blessings.

I give my life to follow, everything I believe in, now I surrender...
