Dance in the Freedom We Know

Have you ever envied your non-believer friends who could do almost anything they wanted, read the books they want, watch the movies they want, say what crosses their mind, without ever considering the consequences? I did.

I thought they had the freedom to do what they want when I had none, because I am a Christian, and I had to be a good testimony for God. I was struggling to find my identity in Christ and the freedom of choice that I have as a human.

However, today, God revealed to me that there's a fine line between freedom and bondage. If we had not known Christ, we would probably have not noticed that our actions maybe unholy, or we would be sinning, because it is simply what we usually do. We can't escape that because we do not know that it is wrong, we can't escape that because we have no power to resist tempatation. We do not have the freedom to choose what we want to do, because we do not know.

But, we can live in freedom in Christ knowing that the choices we make will be righteous before God's eyes. We can live in freedom knowing that even if the world turns its back against us, God will still be with us till the very end. And since the blood of Christ has liberated us, we have the freedom to choose between what is holy and unholy. No longer do we need to walk the blind path of doing what comes 'naturally', but to choose, whether the books we read, the movies we watch, are healthy for us. After all, we are now spiritually opened to the good and evil of the world.

So if our hearts ever deceive us, saying that life would be better without Christ, if we ever come to disbelief that there's no freedom in Christ, may I urge all of us, brothers and sisters, to reject all these deceptions in Jesus' name, for there is freedom indeed, as Jesus, who is the Lord of our lives, reign in us and gives us wisdom to make the best decisions.

That's the freedom we have and know.
