Sitting in the Light

"1 john 1:5-7
5 this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.
6 if we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.
7 but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies ur from all sin.

God always wanted us to walk with him in the light. to bask under His glory, faithfulness, peace, love, joy, hope. and the list goes on.
we dont have to sit in the dark. but if we want to look at the stars, isnt darkness required?
The stars neither requires it nor demands it.(Annie Dillard)

i realised that there are many things in life which are like that. which doesnt require nor demands us to do (certain things).

Music. for melodious music to come out from a piano, fingers must strike the keys. trained fingers. fingers that has gone through countless hours of disciplined trainings. you dont have to do it. the piano neither requires it nor demands it. but if we want to draw beautiful music from the piano, that discipline is required.

Studying. to get good grades. to do well in the future, to get a stable job/income/ladida, we need to put in effort and time and well.i dont know. you dont have to cramp the myraid of notes into your little brain. you dont have to do it. perhaps, our/your future neither requires it nor demands it. but if you wanna excel in life, if you wanna be Someone, that conscious effort is needed.

Time. time is spread ard us. vacant. that time can be used to do meaningful activities, to accomplish certain things. but for that to occur, you will have to plan, and carry out your plan. you can choose not to do it, you dont have to. time neither requires it nor demands it. but if you hope to look back at the days/weeks/months/years that have gone by and smile at what was achieved and accomplished, that planning, is required.

Love. love is in the air indeed. in order to love, you gotta take risks. you can choose to back out, lie low and again, you dont have to do it. love doesnt require nor demands it. if, however, you're gonna look back and regret on certain things that you've done or NOT done, then perhaps that risk is required as well.

light wont automatically shine upon you nor will truth silently seep into your head.

aye there are so many other things that can be applied to this context.
but yar jst thought i'd share this with you guys.
there are many things in life, in fact, everything, that we hold the final say/decision to.

its entirely up to us.
up to you.
up to me.
its your move."

i got this from Gen's blog (hopefully she doesnt mind).
lord, i thank you for giving us the will to make choices in life. lord, i ask of ur forgiveness for the wrong choices we made in life. lord, allow ur ways to shine in our everyday lives that when we decide on our daily matters, we decide it with the best Counsellor (aka the Holy Spirit) .. amen
