Devotion #71

Everyone knows the story of Achan from recent sermons and sanctification trainings. The story of how he kept gold and silver for himself against God's commands, resulting in the deaths of 27 Israelites, and subsequently his entire tribe and family being stoned and burned.

The Israelites laid a pile of stones over the place and called it Valley of Achor. The word "Achor" actually means "trouble".

Just want to share that God has His way of redemption. At a later stage, God transformed how The Valley of Achor is to be known, in Hosea 2:15.

Hosea 2:15 says

"There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will sing as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt. "

The Valley of Achor...a door of hope?

"Give her back her vineyards" (fruitfulness or maybe relationship restored). From a Valley of Achor (trouble) to Door of Hope. "Sing as in the days of her youth" (Joy restored). "As in the day she came up out of Egypt" (to always remember God's redemption for His people and His faithfulness).

Nothing God cannot use to glory Him.

=)
